Designer Profile

Doug graduated in 1985 from the University of North Texas in Denton with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in architecture and interior design. He then worked for This Old House Interiors in Denton for almost 5 years before going out on his own to open Top Drawer Interiors in 1989.

Over the years, Top Drawer's client mix has been predominantly residential, including a string of a dozen or so apartment complexes but also includes commercial gigs with American Airlines, Lockheed Martin, a Mercedes dealership, an extended-stay hotel in Austin, a clothing boutique in Nashville and several office interiors. Another side-line has been showroom design for manufacturers and importers at regional furniture trade shows in High Point, NC; Chicago; Ft. Lauderdale; Greenwich, CT; San Francisco and Dallas. In 2000, we bought our own building on the fringe of the Dallas design district and in 2005, began importing The Doug Salzman Collection furniture line made in Peru.
