A Better Experience for Everyone at METROCON16 EXPO & CONFERENCE
Everyone – Attendees, Exhibitors, Speakers, Sponsors, and Volunteers – will benefit from wonderful new features being implemented for the chapter’s biggest event of the year: METROCON16 Expo & Conference taking place at Dallas Market Hall on August 11 & 12, 2016.
For ATTENDEES: We’re losing the paper.
1 | If you sign up for CEUs, your schedule will be printed on your badge. Instead of presenting your registration receipt showing your class schedule to the CEU monitor, you will simply show them the schedule on your badge, proving that you are signed up for the course.
2 | When you complete a CEU, instead of having a printed CEU Tracking Sheet stamped, one of our volunteer course monitors will scan the bar code on your badge, proving that you attended the course. After the show is over, you will be able to log back into our registration site (with the same login you set up when you register for the show), generate a document listing all of the CEUs that you completed, print it out, submit it to IDCEC, and keep a copy for your records.
For EXHIBITORS: We’re making it easier for you to connect with Attendees.
1 | When you register to exhibit, not only will you be able to designate which market(s) you serve – Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, Institutional, Multifamily, Residential, Retail Design/Store Planning, Workplace/Corporate – but you will also be able to designate what kind of products and services you offer. In this way, Attendees will be able to search and find what they are looking for.
2 | If you choose to sign up for Lead Retrieval, you will be able to choose whether you want to use a lead retrieval app with your own mobile device(s) – for use with a QR code on Attendee badges – or to use a Prospect Tracker “gun” – for use with a bar code on Attendee badges – in order to free up your mobile device to use for other tasks.

1 | Have you experienced our revamped website, www.metrocon.info? We have simplified navigation, made content searchable, and upgraded its appearance.
2 | Our new mobile app will debut this summer about a month before the show. You will want to download it and login (with the same login you set up when you register for the show) so that you can access your schedule, search for exhibitors by product type, and receive important, up-to-the-minute notifications from us about show changes, additions, and opportunities.

What do you get when you bring together 2,500+ designers, architects, interior design students, and other essential design industry members from all over Texas, Oklahoma, and beyond? METROCON, the largest not-for-profit, self-produced, interior design-related regional expo and conference in the USA.
METROCON15 took place on August 13 & 14 at Dallas Market Hall and attracted approximately 400 ASID practitioner, educator and student members, who took advantage of 54 hours of continuing education, programming for students and new graduates, and over 280 manufacturers catering to the corporate, education, healthcare, hospitality, institutional, multifamily, residential, and retail design fields.

ASID Brought It To METROCON15
ASID National Chair Stephanie Clemons, FASID (Colorado), who helped the chapter celebrate the Society’s 40th anniversary the night before at the Legacy of Design Awards Celebration and Annual Meeting, attended the expo on Thursday along with ASID CEO Randy Fiser (Washington, DC). The two of them greeted members at the ASID Texas booth, as well as ventured out onto the show floor to thank our Industry Partners for their vital support and participation.
Three other ASID staff members – Director, Education and Engagement Matthew DeGeeter; Associate, Education and Engagement Tiffany Neumann; and Director, Strategic Partnerships and Sales Olga Odeide – attended METROCON, implementing two programs for students and new graduates on Friday, the second day of the show:
1] For the second year in a row, ASID brought its well-respected Career Exchange to METROCON. During the 90-minute session, 55 students and 26 recent graduates connected with 37 design professionals and industry representatives, learning about the interior design profession and/or receiving resume/portfolio critiques. 2] New for this year and exclusively for ASID student members, ASID also brought its new Student Roadmap program to METROCON. This hour-long program allowed aspiring designers to experience a curated tour of METROCON with professional designers, who helped the students navigate the trade show and meet with exhibitors in a less intimidating way. Kay Cosby, ASID, RID, Corey Davey, Allied ASID, and Sarah Marek, Allied ASID, each took small groups of students around the trade show floor, visiting the exhibit spaces of ASID Industry Partners Benjamin Moore, Cosentino, Crossville, Florida Tile, Hansgrohe, Sherwin-Williams, and Wilsonart.
As a precursor to the student programming on Friday, ASID Industry Partner Steelcase hosted a Student Mixer on Thursday evening in their Dallas showroom, allowing students to mix and mingle with designers and sales representatives, while exploring the newest product introductions from NeoCon.
Again this year, our good friends and fellow members in the ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter chartered a bus from Houston, bringing approximately 30 students and designers to Dallas to experience the trade show and participate in the student programming.
