The ASID Texas Chapter first started co-organizing METROCON in 2005, and every year this incredibly affordable networking, business-building and career-establishing event has grown and improved.
Our not-for-profit show is even more impressive when you break it down by the numbers. Did you know that…?
• Exhibitor fees have increased only 25-cents per square foot over the last five years.
• Our members can access 250+ vendors, choose from 50+ classes, and take up to 9 CEUs over two days for only $50.
• Attendance fees are the same as they have been since the 2010 show.
• The show is organized year-round by only 16 volunteers and two contract workers.
• Since 2005, METROCON has raised over $225,000 for the Texas Chapter to fund special programs, scholarships and foundation work.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such a powerhouse event in our own backyard, but it is easy to take our good fortune for granted. If you think about it, with an incredible value like this, WHY WOULDN’T YOU ATTEND METROCON?
So mark your calendars, join your peers and be part of something BIG: METROCON14 Expo & Conference will take place at Dallas Market Hall [2200 Stemmons Freeway, Dallas] on Thursday, August 14 & Friday, August 15, 2014. METROCON will again be held in conjunction with the ASID Texas Chapter’s Legacy of Design Awards Celebration / Annual Meeting, which will take place the evening of Wednesday, August 13.
NEW FOR 2014: DEDICATED STUDENT PROGRAMMING!
For the first time ever, METROCON will have a dedicated Student Programming area featuring portfolio & resume reviews, one-on-one discussions with companies who hire and/or work with interior designers, and more.
ASID will be implementing its high successful Career Exchange program, which it offers annually at NeoCon and NeoCon East. ATTENDING THE TRADE SHOW & CEUS
ASID & IIDA are again offering their members* affordable continuing education. Any member of the two organizations can attend the two-day trade show free of charge with only a $50 flat fee to take any amount of continuing education. Again this year the trade show and CEU registration is online via the METROCON Attendees page.
Continuing education courses, which we anticipate posting on the website by mid-May, will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Online pre-registration will open MONDAY, JUNE 2 AT 8AM and will close at 5pm on August 1. On-site registration will be available during METROCON14, but an additional charge of $10 will be added to online pre-registration fees. Note: If classes sell out online during pre-registration, class openings may be available on-site due to registrant no-shows, but they cannot be guaranteed.
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT MEMBERSHIP:
To qualify as a Member and receive discounted tradeshow and/or continuing education pricing, Attendees must be in good standing – i.e., not suspended for non-payment – in the official ASID database or in the official IIDA database ON MAY 1, 2014. If not in either one of these official databases on this date, then the Attendee will not qualify as a Member and will need to pay the non-member pricing.
EXHIBITING IN THE TRADE SHOW
If you cater to interior designers, METROCON14 is the place to be. A significant benefit of ASID Industry Partner membership is reduced convention pricing. Exhibitor registration opened online April 1 at 8am, and a 10’x10’ booth can be purchased for the reduced fee of $475. Green Zone booth upgrades are available at $100 per booth (while available), Premium booth upgrades are available at $150 per booth (while available) and Super Premium upgrades at $250 per booth (while available).
Please note that booth sales officially close on June 20, but if your company wants to secure its presence at the show, then do not procrastinate. Last year booths sold out nine days ahead of the official close, and by the time the show took place, we had 17 vendors on a waiting list. A note to the Industry Partners out there who offer residential products and services: Residentially-focused designers want you there! Every year they ask why more of you are not present – especially those from beyond the DFW area who want to do some “one-stop shopping” while they are in the Metroplex. Our members are always looking for new sources, and when you are not there along with other vendors, you are not on their radar. Understand that a great deal of residentially-focused designers attend METROCON every year, and they desperately want you to participate, so plan on being at the 2014 show!

1. CEU Ceiling Tiles / Installation [in kind]: The CEU-goers in our packed downstairs classrooms will see your logo when they look up. Plus, enjoy two (2) 10’x10’ booths on us.
2. Notepad [$1,000]: Do it “write” by getting into the hands of all of our attendees. Let them take you home and use you even after the show’s over.
3. Directory [$2,500]: With two (2) full-page ads, shout it out and stand out by being the only advertiser in our info-laden Show Directory.
4. Bag Check [$1,000]: Lend a hand to our attendees by helping them store their stuff. You’ll be the first thing they see when they walk in the door and the last thing they see on the way out.
